<p>Even after successfully registering as a Sole Proprietor (SZČO) or Limited Liability Company (LLC), the entrepreneur still has obligations regarding the residence permit, reporting, insurance, taxation, and conducting business according to the stated purpose of stay.</p>
<p>Failure to comply with these requirements can lead not only to fines but also to <b>revocation of the residence permit.</b> Therefore, it is essential not only to properly register the business but also to systematically fulfill all obligations after its launch.</p>

<h2>Requirements for Residence Permits for Entrepreneurs from Third Countries</h2>
<p>For third-country nationals, conducting business in Slovakia is possible <b>only with a valid temporary residence permit (TRP)</b> for entrepreneurship <i>(Slovak: účel podnikanie)</i> or temporary asylum <i>(Slovak: dočasné útočisko).</i> This residence permit is strictly tied to its purpose</b>&nbsp;— and its extension is possible only if all established conditions are met.</p>
<h3>Main obligations for the residence permit:</h3>
<p>The TRP <b>must match the purpose of stay.</b> If you are a Sole Proprietor (SZČO) or an LLC, you must <b>maintain it in active status</b> <i>(you cannot close your business or liquidate your LLC).</i></p>

At the time of writing, it is possible to extend the TRP even after its expiration date.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 5px;">When applying for a renewal:</p>
<ul style="margin-top: 7px;">
<li><b>You must not have any debts</b> to the tax office, health insurance, or social insurance.</li>
<li>You need to confirm a <b>minimum income</b> of <b>20 times the minimum subsistence level</b> for Sole Proprietors and <b>60 times the minimum subsistence level</b> for LLCs.</li>
</ul>
<p>If you <b>change your address</b>, you need to notify the immigration police and submit an application for your new address.</p>
<p>It is mandatory to have <b>health insurance for the entire duration</b> of the residence permit (public insurance for Sole Proprietors or private commercial insurance for LLC directors).</p>
<p><b>You cannot be employed</b> — a residence permit for entrepreneurship <b>does not grant the right to work</b> in employment <i>(including in your own company under an employment contract).</i></p>
<p>It is mandatory to have <b>actual residence in Slovakia for at least 180 days per year.</b> If you are outside the country for more than half a year, this is grounds for revoking the residence permit.</p>

<h2>Accounting and Tax Reporting for Entrepreneurs in Slovakia</h2>

<h2>Health and Social Insurance</h2>
<p>After registering the business / obtaining the residence permit in Slovakia, the entrepreneur has obligations regarding the payment of insurance contributions. The procedure depends on the type of business: Sole Proprietor or LLC.</p>
<p>A Sole Proprietor must pay for health insurance <i>(Slovak: zdravotné poistenie).</i> This obligation begins on the first day of registering the Sole Proprietor / obtaining the residence permit. Registration with one of the public insurers (Union, VšZP, Dôvera) is mandatory.</p>
<p>Additionally, the Sole Proprietor is obligated to pay social insurance <i>(Slovak: sociálne poistenie)</i> starting from the second year if their income in the first year exceeds the established threshold <i>(in 2025: from <samp>8,580 €</samp>).</i></p>
