    1. Company Registration

A full set of documents is prepared for the residence permit application based on employment. This includes document preparation and verification, certified translations, immigration police accompaniment, and medical examination.

    3. Company Transfer
    up to 10 days

After receiving your residence permit, you become the director and employee of your Slovak company. All changes are registered in the commercial register (orsr.sk), and official employment is carried out.

    FAQ🔖

FAQ about Residence Permits in Slovakia

How long does it take to obtain a residence permit in Slovakia?
Document preparation usually takes no more than 30 days. The migration police typically issue a decision on the application within 30–60 days. On average, the whole process takes about 2–3 months.
What documents are needed to obtain a residence permit?
A valid passport, signed residence permit application with two photos, criminal record certificates with apostilles and certified translations (from all countries where the applicant stayed for more than 90 days during the past 3 years), work permit issued by the labor office (Slovak: úrad práce), proof of accommodation, and proof of administrative fee payment.
Do I need to be in Slovakia for the process?
Yes, definitely. Your personal presence is required for submitting the application and undergoing the medical exam. We reserve the appointments and organize everything in advance.
How can I obtain a criminal record certificate with an apostille?
You need to apply through the Ministry of Interior of your home country. If you are abroad, you can contact the consulate for details on how to obtain it.
If you're unable to obtain the certificate yourself, we can arrange a Ukrainian criminal record certificate remotely. The document includes an apostille and certified Slovak translation.
    • Price: 80 €
    • Processing time: about 4 weeks
A translated scan is sufficient for company registration, while the original is required for the residence permit.

How can I obtain permanent residence (PR) in Slovakia?

We provide consultation and support for this process.
Is employment in your own company legal?
Absolutely legal. Slovak law allows a foreigner to be both the director and employee of their own company if they hold a residence permit. We handle everything officially and without fictitious arrangements.
Can I get a residence permit if I'm from a visa country?
Yes. We assist with obtaining a national visa (type D), which allows you to enter Slovakia and submit your residence permit application at the migration police. Alternatively, you may apply directly through the Slovak consulate in your home country.
What salary is required and how much goes to taxes?
To renew your residence permit, you must officially pay yourself at least the minimum salary based on the job complexity category. Slovakia has 6 categories, each with a different minimum salary level.
Your category depends on your official job title.
Minimum salary levels are indexed annually. For example, in 2025, the minimum salary for category 1 is:
    • 816 € gross (before employee taxes),
    • 1 111 € supergross (total cost for the employer, before employer taxes),
    • 664 € net (take-home pay after taxes)
Total: 447 € in taxes and contributions.
We help you select the proper category and legally optimize taxes to reduce your tax burden.

    Important Information 📖

Residence Permit in Slovakia through Employment in Your Own Company

Obtaining a residence permit (RP) in Slovakia is becoming an increasingly popular way of legal immigration for foreign entrepreneurs. One of the most effective options is obtaining a residence permit based on employment in your own company (LLC, Slovak: s.r.o.). This allows not only legal residence in the EU but also the opportunity to run a business in Slovakia and apply for permanent residence after 5 years.
We offer a comprehensive service: from registering or transferring ownership of the company to accounting, submitting your application to the migration police, and handling all communication with government authorities. Everything is managed by one team. You’ll receive a registered address, assistance with opening a bank account, and support with mandatory documents and medical check-ups for migration purposes.
Our key advantage is our own licensed HR agency, years of experience in legal employment of foreigners, and in-depth knowledge of procedures. We don’t just help with paperwork — we support your business in Slovakia at every stage.
We help immigrants not only obtain a residence permit but also build a stable business environment for life and work in the EU.

    Required Documents for Residence Permit

According to §32 of Act No. 404/2011 on the Stay of Foreigners, the following documents are required to obtain a residence permit:
    1. a valid passport,
    2. a signed residence permit application with two photos,
    3. criminal record certificates,
    4. a work permit,
    5. proof of accommodation,
    6. proof of administrative fee payment.

    Criminal Record Certificates

To obtain a residence permit in Slovakia, a criminal record certificate from your country of citizenship is required. If you lived in another country for more than 90 days during the past 3 years, you must also provide a certificate from that country.
If you’re unable to obtain the certificate yourself, we can help you obtain it online through our partners. Just contact us, and we’ll give you all the necessary details.
The document must be issued within the last 90 days. Criminal record certificates must be apostilled and translated into Slovak by a certified translator.

    Work Permit in Slovakia

To obtain a residence permit for the purpose of employment, a work permit issued by the Labour Office (Slovak: úrad práce) is required.
The work permit is issued based on an application submitted by the employer and must be obtained before applying for the residence permit. We assist in preparing all the necessary documents for obtaining this permit.
The work permit must be no older than 90 days at the time of submission.

    Proof of Accommodation

To prove accommodation, you need to submit a document confirming that you have secured housing for at least six months of temporary stay. This can include:
    1. a notarized statement from the property owner allowing you to live at the address,
    2. confirmation from a legal entity (e.g. company) that it is providing accommodation,
    3. a rental contract between a legal entity and the property owner.
The document must include: property owner's details, address, property deed number, foreigner’s personal data, and duration of accommodation (at least 6 months).
The document must not be older than 90 days.

    Submitting the Residence Permit Application

The application is submitted at the migration police office in the area of your registered address in Slovakia. You can find the relevant office on our migration police map.
You must book an appointment in advance through the Slovak Ministry of Interior’s website.
After submitting your residence permit (residency) application, the immigration police will review all documents and make a decision within 30–60 days. Once your application is approved, you will receive a residence permit valid for 1 to 2 years.

Obligations After Receiving the Residence Permit

After obtaining a residence permit in Slovakia, a foreigner must undergo a medical check-up and submit proof to the migration police.
The medical exam must be completed in a Slovak clinic certified for this purpose. The estimated cost is 200 €.
If your RP is based on employment, you must be officially employed by the company that sponsored your permit.

    Minimum Salary in Slovakia

One of the key conditions for obtaining and renewing a residence permit based on employment in Slovakia is receiving an official salary. The law requires that the foreigner is employed and earns at least the minimum wage for the corresponding job complexity category.
In 2025, the following monthly minimum salary levels apply in Slovakia:
Job Complexity CategoryGross SalarySupergrossNet SalaryTaxes and Contributions
    1816 €1111 €664 €447 €
    2932 €1269 €745 €524 €
    31048 €1427 €826 €601 €
    41164 €1585 €908 €677 €
    51280 €1743 €989 €754 €
    61396 €1900 €1070 €830 €

What the values in the table mean:
    • Gross salary — the amount stated in the employment contract. Income tax and social and health contributions are deducted from this.
    • Supergross — the total cost of the employee for the employer, including gross salary and employer-paid contributions (about +35% on top of gross).
    • Net salary — the amount the employee receives after all taxes and mandatory deductions.
    • Taxes and Contributions — the total of mandatory payments to state funds, including both employer and employee contributions, and income tax paid by the employee.

We help you choose the optimal job category, draft the employment contract, and organize all payments to ensure compliance with the law while optimizing your expenses.
